[06-12-2023] Monterey County, CA – 2-Year-Old Child Injured After Marina Daycare Injury, 60-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Child Abuse

A 2-year-old child was injured after a child abuse incident at a Marina daycare during Memorial Day weekend. The 60-year-old female suspect was arrested late Monday morning, June 12, 2023. According to the Marina Police Department, the arrest was made around 11:39 a.m. at Miss Barbara’s Child Development Center located at 226 Beach Drive. The unidentified child was reportedly physically abused and suffered non-life-threatening injuries under the care of the elderly woman, identified as Christine A., who was an employee at the daycare. The suspect is charged with ten counts of child abuse resulting in injury and ten counts of child endangerment for that incident alone. She is booked into Monterey County Jail and set for a criminal arraignment on June 29. The center has not released any statements on this matter.
