[02-16-2020] Driver Killed in West Los Angeles Drunken Wrong-Way Crash

A 43-year old man died while another person was injured last Sunday morning due to a wrong-way car collision. The incident happened in West Los Angeles, just south of Getty Center Drive at 2:25 a.m.

According to the reports released by the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a 2000 Jaguar S when it was suddenly hit by a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. The driver of the Toyota was traveling Southbound in a Northbound carpool lane which resulted in a fatal collision with the 2000 Jaguar S that the victim was riding.

The victim died on the spot due to the severity of his injuries while another person was immediately brought to the hospital to receive all the necessary treatments. According to the authorities, the suspect will be facing a $100,000 bail and will be charged and arrested for driving under the influence. The CHP is currently investigating the case and confirmed that the suspect will indeed face charges.

Every day, around 30 people die in the U.S. due to drunk driving accidents according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Getting a seasoned DUI victim’s lawyer to conduct an independent investigation is highly encouraged as it can consider other potential factors in the case, such as the results of a test or tests to determine the blood-alcohol content of the suspect.

The family of the victim can get compensation through a civil lawsuit against the suspect. The family can also seek compensation for the damages (such as loss of companionship, pain, and suffering, and emotional distress) through a wrongful death claim. Having an attorney can make the process easier for the grieving family as they can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party. Not only that, but lawyers can also serve as a reliable legal guide, a protector of rights, and can ensure that the suspect will be held accountable for his negligence.
